OUR PLACE

Get ready for a brand-new interactive experience celebrate the fun-filled world of Dungeon and Dragons.
In honor of the Gary Gygax game’s 50th anniversary, and Lake Geneva, being the birthplace of the most famous fantasy role-playing game ever invented is part of the plan for the Griffin & Gargoyle Tavern that is currently in the works.

This new castle/restaurant/bar and place of game playing will take Dungeons and Dragons to a whole new level with an immersive themed restaurant and amusement center right here at the very edge of Lake Geneva. The plan is to create a 32,000 square foot ‘ hands-on’ experience for visitors and players on land near Emagine theatre, located out on Highway 120 in Lyon. The man behind this imaginative initiative is named Daniel Colwell, and he’s a senior manager at Emagine Theatre.

This inventive man dreamed up the idea during 2020 while things were shut down and he really had the time to focus on creating such a fun and innovative experience. He is currently working with investors to fund the project and is also considering crowdfunding to allow more people to invest. The hope is to break ground in the spring of 2022, and then have the place open by the spring of 2024 which will be the 50th anniversary of the creation of Dungeon and Dragons.

Before anything can move ahead and become a reality, however, permits and approvals need to be obtained, which is being investigated. Once the tavern is built it will be a unique experience with ax-throwing, game rooms, gift shop, tavern, restaurant, and plenty of outdoor space. Visitors will be encouraged to dress up in costume or fantasy garb as the employees will be in costume as characters in the game, as well. Colwell would also like to have event spaces that can be rented out for special occasions, parties, and outdoor weddings. Griffin & Gargoyle Tavern will be an experience unlike any other in or around Lake Geneva and will bring visitors from all over. You never know what could happen in such a magical and inviting atmosphere, but everyone is looking forward to what the future has in store for Dungeon and Dragons here in Lake Geneva.
