Paid Parking starts back again in Lake Geneva.
Paid parking begins once more on Thursday, February 1, 2024. That’s the start of the paid parking season and it comes just in time for the Winterfest downtown celebration.  The decision by the current city council (until the elections change things in February) to move paid parking to begin earlier, before spring when it was always started in ‘the old days,’ was and remains all about money.

Paid parking is in effect from February 1, 2024, through November 15, 2024. Parking meters are enforced from 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. every day, with a five-hour maximum allowed for parking in one parking day period. The meters are easy to use; just press the green start button, enter the license plate number of the vehicle being parked, swipe a credit or debit card, and select an amount of time. The meters also take coins, so a ‘parker ‘can just keep adding coins until a satisfactory time is reached. Lake Geneva also utilizes the Park Mobile app. The app is free and makes paying for parking very convenient, especially if the addition of more time is needed. Residents of Lake Geneva can acquire up to four parking stickers at no charge with a current vehicle registration and a current utility bill. If additional stickers are needed, they can be purchased for $25.00 per season.

Business owners in Lake Geneva can purchase up to two parking stickers for $50.00, after providing a current business license and vehicle registration. Walworth County residents can purchase a parking sticker for $160.00 with a current utility bill and vehicle registration. All parking stickers are valid for two years, except parking lot stickers. Parking lot permits are $400.00 annually and are valid at the Cook Street lot, Center Street lot, and Geneva Street Lot. There is signage all over the city reminding people to pay the meter. Don’t forget to check the vehicle plate number of the vehicle being parked, as it’s a pay-by-plate parking program.

Parking rates are in effect seven days a week from 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. The rate is $2.00 an hour Monday through Thursday and $4.00 an hour Friday through Sunday.
