OUR PLACE
Lake Geneva is expected to be extremely busy this weekend.
With the Fourth of July holiday and celebration arriving on Friday, there are some rules to consider when celebrating.
Not allowed includes anything that launches, explodes, whistles, screams, pops, or basically anything that makes noise. Also, selling or offering fireworks for sale is not permitted in the city. Hopefully, this doesn’t stop anyone from celebrating in other ways.
There are a plethora of professional firework shows that started this past weekend in surrounding communities; however, the city of Lake Geneva does not have a show. Don’t worry if you missed the pre-fourth show, there are some on July 4th. Fontana has a great fireworks show on July 4th right on the fabulous Fontana Beach. Twin Lakes Libertyfest and fireworks will have their show on July 4th in Lance Park. Lake Geneva has a wonderful show, but it’s at the end of summer, brought to everyone by the Lake Geneva Jaycees after Venetian Fest. If you are still looking to have some kind of fireworks fun at home, here’s what’s allowed: toy caps, sparklers, toy snakes, and confetti poppers. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
You may not purchase, however, or fire off in Lake Geneva city limits those kinds of fireworks that blow up or rocket into the air, even though they are sold in fireworks stands in communities all around Lake Geneva.
The Fourth of July Children’s Parade is a family favorite in Lake Geneva.
This very fun parade is all about the red, white, and blue. The kids, along with their parents, will be dressed in their patriotic colors. There is no registration needed, just show up and get ready to march or ride in this patriotic fun parade. Many will decorate wagons, bikes, scooters, and other modes of transportation, and of course, it will all be decorated and themed for the Fourth of July.
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sage Street at Eastview School and travel west on Dodge Street, north on Center Street, and west on Henry Street. The parade ends at the American Legion Hall. The event concludes with its traditional July Fourth ceremony. This is a great way to participate in the holiday and encourage kids to be a part of it. This day is all about the red, white, and blue, and love for the great USA.
