OUR PLACE
The Lake Geneva Schools are offering ‘grab and go’ meals.
Monday, July 18th, through Wednesday, August 17th, breakfasts, and lunch will be available for pick up (Every Monday and Wednesday) at the Badger High School between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. All you need to do is pull up at the door of the commons and the meals will be delivered directly to the car. With limited pick-up days, those coming will get Monday and Tuesday meals on Monday pick-up and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday meals at the Wednesday pick-up (yes, several in advance of the days).
All students, 18 and younger qualify for the meals even if they are not Lake Geneva students. Now, how about that for helping during difficult times? The school district is extremely happy to provide this service to the community and encourages everyone to take advantage of the opportunity.
The new 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is now live.
Wisconsinites that call or text that number will be connected with a crisis counselor who can provide free help 24/7. The new number and name are an update to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline with call centers around the country now providing additional services.
What happens when you contact the 988 hotline?
The person seeking or needing support will call or text 988 and chat via 988lifeline.org, they will then receive an automated response asking if they are a veteran or Spanish speaker and now is connected to a counselor. Those in need will receive support, de-escalation assistance, learn new coping skills, acquire local referrals, and may receive a follow-up call. If the caller has an imminent risk to themselves or others, they will receive a wellness check from local law enforcement and/or medical response teams. Wisconsinites that utilize the 988 number will be transferred to Wisconsin’s only call center, Wisconsin Lifeline, located in Green Bay. The Green Bay operation is funded by the state’s health department and free to anyone in need.
