OUR PLACE

Most coffee shops are now charging for refills.
With the price of groceries increasing, it is no surprise that coffee shops are seeking to compensate for these higher prices. Two coffee shops do offer free refills, and those are Avant Coffee and Bike Shop on Broad Street and Starbucks at all locations. If one orders a small coffee at Avant, the price is two dollars, served in either a ceramic mug or paper cup, while refills are unlimited and free.

Avant is the top coffee shop located in the entire Lake Geneva area. Starbucks offers a small coffee for $2.65, and rewards members can get free refills (not so non-members who have to pay for another coffee full price. Inspired Coffee on Main Street offers a small coffee for $2.15 with refills for .70 cents. The Ridge offers a small coffee for $2.75, and refills are $1. Niche offers a small coffee for $3 with no refills and a large coffee for $4 with free refills. Coffee Mill in Fontana offers a small coffee for $2 and refills for $1.  In terms of quality, Avant has the best coffee anywhere, closely followed by Inspired and the Coffee Mill in Fontana.   Reviews of coffee shops in Delavan and Elkhorn will follow.

The Annual DAS FEST is almost here.
The United Way of Walworth County presents another year of this favorite German festival held at the Walworth County Fairgrounds. Proceeds from this huge German festival impacts over forty-five non-profit organizations. The fun starts on Friday August 4th and goes through the weekend ending on Sunday August 6th. If you are staying in Lake Geneva for the weekend don’t forget there is a free shuttle back and forth at the festival. There will be three stages offering live entertainment. Get ready for some great entertainment, dancing, and so many delicious food vendors. Try some traditional German food or grab your favorite festival treat. It wouldn’t be a German Festival without crafters so don’t forget your beer steins. The festival will also include German shops, carnival fun for the kids, dachshund and corgi races, stein hosting, and much more. This is a free family friendly event so put your best lederhosen or dirndl and head on over for some fun.

Yes, it’s still summer but fall will be here before you know it. The Lake Geneva Business Improvement District is already planning the Annual Oktoberfest fun. Oktoberfest is the Business Improvement District’s largest event of the year and a top runner for the city. The event draws a huge crowd, and this is expected to be bigger and better than previous years. Oktoberfest will be Saturday October 2nd and Sunday October 3rd and will be on Broad and Geneva Street. This block party style event will be free and include traditional stein hosting, dachshund races, beer garden, live entertainment, bounce houses and family activities, artisan market, and plenty of delicious fair food. If you would like to be a part of creating the fun the BID is looking for vendors and sponsors for the event.
