OUR PLACE

You ever miss a city meeting and realize there was something discussed or voted on that is important to you?
It should be an easy fix, just go to the city website page and go to the city meetings video stream. All standing committee meetings are recorded and streamed on the city website. Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy, as the city’s AV equipment is not reliable and has not been updated in quite some time. Sometimes it works but other times the video is in and out and the audio is muffled and or nonexistent.

City officials have been aware of the issues and are in the process of getting the job done and $50,000.00 was included in this year’s budget.  At the last finance, license, and regulation Committee two proposals were reviewed. AVPro Tech submitted a bid of $68, 330.00. The other bid considered was from Smart Spaces with a total of $48,526.33. The FLR committee was impressed with both companies and their proposals. With Smart Spaces coming in right under budget it was recommended to the city council.

The Lake Geneva City Council met last Monday and voted on the approval of a contract by Smart Spaces for the council chamber’s audio and visual upgrades. Before the vote took place Alderperson Frame brought up the question of why the lowest bid was recommended. Frame was concerned that Smart Spaces may not be the best choice. The higher bid from AVPro Tech may be the better option and by spending a little more the city may be happier and get results that can accommodate their needs further into the future. A majority of council members were impressed with the proposal from Smart Spaces and felt the technology fit their needs and voted to approve Smart Spaces contract.
