OUR PLACE

Easter Sunday is this Sunday, March 31st.
This Christian festival commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead after his crucifixion and burial by the Romans. The Friday before Easter, known as Good Friday, is when the crucifixion of Jesus is observed. The Easter holiday concludes the “Passion of the Christ,” a series of events that begins with Lent. In Western Christianity, the period before Easter holds significance, starting on Ash Wednesday and ending on Easter.

There are many non-religious Easter traditions. Easter Eggs are a favorite, which includes decorating them and a big egg hunt on Easter morning. Eggs represent birth. Jesus’s resurrection is considered a re-birth, and spring is a re-birth of all that is laid dormant during winter. It all ties together and is a big celebration in many households. The Easter Bunny is every kid’s favorite part of the holiday, as he delivers candy, chocolates, and sometimes little trinkets and toys are left for the children. Family and friends will gather this weekend and most will go to Easter morning mass and conclude the day with a wonderful Easter Feast.

Happy Easter and Happy Spring.
