OUR PLACE

The downtown Lake Geneva Riviera Complex opens!
Now that Memorial Day has concluded, the unofficial start of summer is here. The Riviera Beach is ready for summer. Swim piers are in. Kiosks are available for purchasing beach passes. Lifeguards are on duty. The summer season has begun. As always, Memorial Day weekend was extremely busy, and Lake Geneva was full of excitement. The shops were full, the restaurants were full, and the hotels were filled to capacity. Memorial Day was the end of the holiday weekend, but not before the annual traditional Memorial Day festivities.

The Memorial Day parade began at 10 a.m. in front of Horticultural Hall and went through the downtown, ending at Lake Geneva’s Ceremonial Flag and Memorial Day Ceremony in Flat Iron Park. The memorial Ceremony was performed, and remembrance of the service men and women who died in active military duty was observed. We don’t know them all, but we owe them all, thank you. The first official day of summer is Thursday, June 20th at 4:51 p.m., but here in Lake Geneva, weekends are expected to be full swing as if it has already begun. Happy Summer.

Todd Krause was accused of supporting the GSR by some people writing online.
Of course, that criticism is true. Todd has a big brain and actually reads, comprehends, and then makes comments about the writing off the record. No, he does not agree with everything written in this paper.  Having everyone agree with what’s written here is not the goal of the editorial staff.  The goal is to try to stimulate and make readers think and then reflect. The lifeblood of small-town quality is in the participation of the public, not by having the public knee-jerk respond to everything it’s told to do or even suggested it do. Love the GSR, hate the GSR, as many do, but remember that it is here to entertain as well as let you know stuff you might want to know before it happens instead of after.
