OUR PLACE
Water, water, everywhere.
The water is still a bit cold, averaging about 64 degrees but the air temperature is hovering in eighties, which means people are heading to the lake. Geneva Lake is a busy lake with boats and swimmers. There are some safety tips that may seem simple but are effective in helping everyone stay safe. Boaters often stop their boats to take a dip in the lake. Before you enter the water from your boat anchor it to prevent the boat from drifting and make sure someone stays with the boat who is able to operate it. Boats should have a rope with a floating device attached to it and swimmers should stay within fifty feet of the boat. If you are going to take a dip, even if you are a strong swimmer, always wear a life jacket.
If someone is in trouble and you are going to jump in to help always put on a life jacket. Unexpected tragedies have occurred in the past that a proper life jacket could have prevented. Stay safe and clip before you dip. The Riviera Beach is packed full of swimmers all summer long and opening weekend was just that. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer months from May 27th through September 4th, with lifeguards on duty most days. The beach area gets extremely full, and the lifeguards do their best to keep all safe but it’s a lot and beach goers should always watch out for each other and keep a close eye on the kids. Summer has not officially here but as far as Lake Geneva is concerned it is.
