OUR PLACE

As the city moves forward to finalize its strategic plan for the next five to ten years, Hillmoor, the city’s newest park, is in alignment.
Lake Geneva is a popular destination and is expected to be under increasing pressure as more people want to move here from other areas of the country. The strategic planning process included input from residents, and residents are concerned that the city is placing too much emphasis on increasing tourism and new development. Most of the people who live here want more focus on preserving the small-town feel and improving residents’ livability or quality of life.

After months of work, the Hillmoor Commission will recommend a conceptual plan for zone 1 of the Hillmoor property. Zone 1 includes the grassy area behind Eastview School and the land behind the Utility Commission. This area is currently used as a disc golf course next to the skate park and pickleball courts. With the city’s recent hire of Upland Design, things are getting done, and a final plan will be presented at the commission’s April 9th meeting. The plan focuses on more amenities close to town, potentially including a splash pad, dog park, a modern picnic pavilion, biking and walking paths, improved river access, an outdoor amphitheater, enhancement of its natural beauty, and more. Public input continues to be gathered and will be included in the potential plan and design of the Hillmoor park to enhance the quality of life for residents.
