OUR PLACE

The Lake Geneva City Personnel Committee has been busy this year.
Not only has the committee been going through procedure and policy issues many important positions became vacant and needed to be filled. The City Administrator was the first to become vacant. David Nord left the city in July and his permanent replacement is still unknown. With the many applications being reviewed the number of applicants that will be looked at closer will be narrowed down and the hiring process will begin. The Interim City Administrator has a great handle on the task at hand and is doing a great job. Lake Geneva is lucky to have David De Angelis looking out for Lake Geneva even if it is temporary.

The Personnel Committee met last week and approximately thirty applications have been submitted. It looks like the city made the right choice in reaching out to the hiring firm and will have many great options for city administrator. The previous Lake Geneva Harbor Master Steve Russel was replaced much quicker when he resigned in mid-summer. Erick Nicia is the current Harbor Master. He has had his fair share of challenges with the lagoon and all the repairs and unknowns that it has but Eric is handling it all in stride and is doing a fine job.

The Parking Manager has recently changed as it was unexpected. The position was quickly filled from within. Beth Gerhis-Pedro already had experience and knows the ins and outs of the parking department so it was only natural to promote her. The City of Lake Geneva also has a new City Clerk, Lacey Reynolds. Lacey has very recently joined the team replacing Lana Kropf. Reynolds has a big job to do as the upcoming election is coming up quickly, has a lot of moving parts, and is under the scrutiny of many. She will be a big part of making it all happen. Reynolds is not new to the job as she was previously the Elkhorn City Clerk.

The city has gone through a lot of changes but with the great personal committee staffing changes, sudden or not, are less challenging.
