Lake Geneva Police Department. This wonderful department is accepting coat donations now through Friday, November 2nd. The coats can be gently used or new, and the sizes most needed are kid’s sizes 8 up through adult sizes, but will not turn down smaller sizes. You can bring your donations directly to the lobby of the Lake Geneva Police department in the City Hall on Geneva Street. Winter is coming and everyone, especially the kids, deserves to be warm.
The Baker House.
There are no rumors about the auction being held on the 30th of November of this year. The Baker House, all contents, the structure, and the land under it (including parking lot and lake rights and piers), is going up as part of a bankruptcy auction. The starting hammer price is 1.92 million dollars. Yes, that’s $1,920,000.00. Not close to the rumored price of Stone Manor, but still a great chunk of change. Will Maxwell Mansion, owned by the same firm, be on the block next?
That is not known, and nobody’s talking. Saturday, December 31st, at midnight, the Baker House will officially no longer be serving the public. Until that time, dinners will continue being served Wednesdays thru Saturday nights. The elegant and fun Saturday afternoon tea times will also be going on until Saturday, December 29th. If you have never experienced a Baker House, Sunday Bruch, it is an absolute must. The quality, selection of fabulous homemade breakfast dishes, and atmosphere make it worth every penny. A complete, Italian inspired, four-course meal for two, every Wednesday night (date night) for $50, and breakfast with Santa, are just a few, and romantic candlelight dinners Saturday night thru December, are just a few specials you can look forward to before the closing of this historical 1800’s themed restaurant.
