Road improvement projects.
Bigfoot Beach and South Lake Shore Drive erosion and deterioration. What should be done? What can be done? What will be done? Who is in charge of this portion of South Lakeshore Drive remains an ongoing unanswered question. On this section of the road Lake Geneva, Town of Linn, and the State all have claims, except when it comes to the work and the cost that goes with it. Lake Geneva City council has had the erosion and other issues on the council agenda many times with no solution, except for the unfavorable talk of rerouting the road completely.

This did not sit well with most and that was the end of it or until it’s brought up again. Alderperson Fesenmaier may change that by bringing the concerns back to the table. Fesenmaier has requested that the head of the street department, Tom Earle, figure out who’s involved and what costs can be shared. While research is being done, Earle was asked to do something temporarily before the edge of the road crumbles further. Gravel has been placed to fill in the weaker spots, but this solution is not expected to last long, so the hunt a more permanent fix becomes more of an immediate necessity.

Oktoberfest this weekend!
The event that almost didn’t happen. Thanks to the BID (Business Improvement District) and the wonderful president and committee members, is happening this weekend October 10th through 12th.

Yes, you read that right, Monday, October 12th (Columbus Day), has been included in the event. There will not be live music on Monday, but it will still include the local businesses for continued retail therapy. Oktoberfest is located in Flat Iron Park and throughout downtown Lake Geneva. Come join the fun from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., for live music, including a squeezebox performer strolling through downtown, sales at most retail shops, specials at downtown restaurants, the Topsy Turvy Brewery is offering drink specials, brats, hotdogs, apple cider donuts, pumpkins, and so much more. Everything will be spaced out and masks are encouraged, so come on down for some great fall family fun.
