The Milwaukee Brewers have a lot on their plate with the remainder of the 2024 season.
They have a potential shot at a World Series title. Although the Major League Baseball trade deadline just passed some think Milwaukee could have a problem on their hands. There is a rumor they could lose Willy Adames this winter. When the Milwaukee Brewers acquired Willy Adames in May 2021, he was hitting .197 with five home runs in 15 RBI in 41 games as Tampa Bay’s starting shortstop. It didn’t take long for Adames to adapt to his new surroundings. Now with Milwaukee, Adames is hitting .248 with 42 extra-base hits including 17 home runs, 71 RBIs, and a .763 OPS (110 OPS+) in 108 games this season. The shortstop has been a crucial part of Milwaukee’s journey to the top of the National League Central and has earned a hefty paycheck from whatever club he ends up with in free agency. The Dodgers, Braves and Giants are well-known big spenders and Milwaukee has typically been the opposite, so unless Adames is fine with less money to stay with the Brew Crew, he could be on the move this winter. However, based on the energy Adames brings to the Brewers’ lineup, the decision-makers would likely have to receive an offer they absolutely couldn’t refuse to move Adames to another contender while the club is among the top teams in the National League.

The Green Bay Packers will be opening their first game of the season playing in Brazil on September 6th.
Dumb sports ideas abound in the NFL, and the Packers opener being played in Brazil is one of the dumbest ones local fans must endure the results of.  The only good news about that game, with equally dumb Philadelphia, is that the wildly outrageous amount of money paid to Jordon Love, if he tanks, will be quietly ignored as some sort of South American thing.  Who can forget Matt Flynn or Michael Vick?
