The Milwaukee Brewers are sitting in the driver’s seat of the National League Central but have the impending July 30 trade deadline looming and they could be ready to shake things up around Major League Baseball.
The Brewers are likely to be one of several teams looking to add a final piece or two for their playoff push. Unlike previous years, the Brewers are more likely to look for pitching help than offensive help at the deadline. The team is reportedly prepared to demote one of their best players from the most coveted spot in the bullpen if it would come to that.

All-Star closer Devin Williams, who has been out all season with stress fractures in his back, has begun his rehab assignment and should be ready in a few weeks but nothing is for certain. Williams is one of the best relief pitchers in the world and has been stellar in save situations, but the Brewers need a relief pitcher who can play now and for the foreseeable future. It’s hard to bump Megill down amid a season that should have garnered All-Star consideration. The right-hander has a 1.99 ERA with a 38-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio, .207 batting average against, and a 1.01 WHIP in 31 2/3 innings this season. The aforementioned .900 save percentage also is notable. Assuming Megill will be able to put any ego aside and understand how vital he still is, the Brewers bullpen could be scary good when Williams returns.

The ‘pen showed some signs of weakness before the All-Star break, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the front office look to add a middle-relief option to bridge the gap. Matt Moore is a great lefty option, as he’s been successful in recent years. He can also be stretched as an opener/starter, if necessary, though he hasn’t made an official start since 2021 with the Phillies. As the July 30th deadline looms it will be interesting to see what the Brewers do with their final picks.

The Green Bay Packers.
What is this team, the incubation team for low-life cretins?  Bret Favre, was a nice guy and then a superstar cretin, Aaron Rodgers, nice guy, and then low life.  Now along comes Jordon Love, a nice guy who quickly reduces himself to a cretin.  Strutting around to a practice required that he wouldn’t even dress out for, making the coach look like an idiot.

Lombardi would have sent him home and cleared out his locker.  On waivers.  Trade him away.  A coach cannot lead if the players don’t have to follow his lead.  The Packers have one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL.  Time to move him in and Love out.
