The Badgers have had an undefeated season 13-0 and they did it again!
After a scare on the field last week and a short stay at the hospital, Badger Coach Matt Hensler was calling plays from the booth at Friday night’s playoff game. The game was in Oconomowoc, With this win against Sun Prairie East with a score of 28 to 6 in the books it’s off to the State Championships! The Badger Football team is fighting for their first-ever state championship title. Friday, November 17th at 1 p.m. at Camp Randall in Madison. The Badgers will be playing against Waunakee another undefeated team, it should be a nail-biter game. The team arrived back in Lake Geneva Friday night with a police escort through downtown. The community support was visible as they cheered and celebrated their homecoming. One win away from the first State Championship title! Let’s Go Badgers!
The third time was very much the charm to keep the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin until at least 2050.
Wisconsin legislators have edged closer to passing a compromise plan to spend more than $500 million in public money to help cover repairs at the Milwaukee Brewers stadium, pushing the proposal through the state Assembly and on to the Senate. Wisconsin will provide $411 million, while Milwaukee County and the city of Milwaukee will chip in $135 million. The three entities will pay this over the next 30 years, and Brewers’ owner Mark Attanasio will pay $100 million. The chamber voted 69-27 to approve the package. When Milwaukee Brewers baseball fans go to a game at American Family Field, they may take a look around and think this is not a nearly 23-year-old ballpark. There are things fans and visitors don’t see that are behind the scenes. stadium facilities that accommodate TV broadcast equipment, including three trucks which was the standard in 2001 when the ballpark opened. Today, the typical Brewers game sees six to eight trucks with broadcast networks for both teams and sometimes the MLB Network. The aging equipment, which has a thirty-year life span, is breaking down and it’s challenging to find replacement parts. The concrete plaza finds spots that are buckling. Exposed steel needs to be coated throughout the stadium. That’s just some of the minor work that needs to be done. Lawmakers are requiring the team to feature a discount day for state residents for one home game per month from April to September. In addition to that, the Brewers will double their required annual contribution to youth sports organizations from $20,000 to $40,000. The state money would come in the form of grants. The local contribution would be generated from an existing fee the state Department of Administration charges the city and county for administering local sales taxes. Any fee revenue not used to administer the taxes would go to the stadium.
The Packers went down to defeat again against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a heartbreaking loss. Love threw an interception to the Steelers in the Steelers endzone for the loss, which puts the Packers 3 and 6 for the season. Nothing much more needs to be written.
