How the current medical system Is literally killing people in Wisconsin.
It also may be costing them millions in compensation.

What’s the problem?  The problem, for most specialties, is getting an appointment.

A cardiac MRI, required because a patient almost died on the emergency room table at Mercy a few months back, took two months to schedule…for a condition from which the patient could die at any time unless the nature of the heart condition can be diagnosed.  Just try to see a podiatrist, neurologist or, God help you, a psychologist or psychologist in less than three to four months.  None of these medical operations or facilities take any responsibility for this life-threatening situation.  They simply go on charging huge amounts of money for whatever ‘service’ they finally provide, and become ever more difficult when dealing with Medicare, the VA, or Badger care.

They want cash, or private insurance and they want a whole lot of it.  When will the public turn and begin filing suit against these hospitals and doctors?  This nightmare has got to be awakened and legislation is about the only thing that might help, as medical personnel and facilities have become so protected from legal recourse as the years have gone by. Oh, by the way, get sick during the week.  Walk into any hospital on a weekend and see what you see.  You’ll see a beautiful place with no employees to be found.

Story Corps (pronounced ‘core’).
This operation is a national nonprofit organization organized in 2013.  Its mission is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build a connection between generations and create a more just and compassionate world. Lake Geneva is excited to be a part of this project. Lake Geneva Public Library has partnered with Story Corp, and the prep work is done so now the storytelling begins.

Chris Brookes of Lake Geneva has been a part of the effort to make this happen since the start and came to the Committee of the Whole meeting to share this information and encourage people to talk. You can now make an appointment at the library to tell your story. You and another person; friend or family can go in and each gets a mic to basically have a conversation about a memory, event, situation, or whatever it is they want to share while being recorded. Don’t worry about the time, as every appointment is an hour-long slot so as people get caught up in the moment, time really isn’t much of an issue.

You may be asking yourself why do this?  Well, the recordings are archived in New York, Lake Geneva, and the Congressional Archives. How great is that? If you could press a button and hear your grandmother’s voice again or hear a more distant relative’s voice for the first time, would you? Story Corps has over 600,000 stories archived already and is enthusiastic about increasing that number. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be a part of history.  Make an appointment today.

 The Farmer’s Almanac.
If you think this summer was hot in Wisconsin, well, you are correct.  It has been.  But the winter is just up ahead, and the almanac is making pretty dire predictions.  The temperatures around the Great Lakes are predicted, by this fairly accurate outfit, to have several weeks of below zero temperatures, with 40 below not being out of reach.  Much snow.  In other words, most people living in and around Geneva Lake will be missing the ‘too hot’ summer relatively soon, if the Farmer’s Almanac is to be counted on.
