This is a weekend full of great deals and fun shopping. Maxwell Street Days is a summer sidewalk sale and has been an annual event for over twenty-five years. The downtown businesses will have sidewalks filled with unique items at fabulous prices. Maxwell Street Days is an annual tradition in Lake Geneva and a very popular shopping event. So many locals and visitors venture downtown and shop their favorite shops.
It’s a great time to pick up a couple of unique back-to-school items, start some Christmas shopping, or just grab a few things you’ve been eyeing up. The retail shops start the deals off at a great discount, but as the weekend continues, more discounts are sometimes offered. Make sure to take a stroll through downtown Lake Geneva and check out the hot deals on this hot weekend.
Updates from the storm on July 3rd in Walworth County. Recovery is tapering off and winding down to an inevitable conclusion at some point in the future.
This will always make celebrating the 4th of July a little somber. In Lake Geneva the City’s Public Works Department started making one final pass through the city to collect storm debris on Monday, August 3. Once the Public Works Department finishes its final curbside collection, debris will cease. After the Public Works Department makes its final sweep of the city, residents will need to drop off any remaining storm debris at the Street Department at 1065 Carey Street. The facility is open from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Residents in communities outside Lake Geneva still working to remove storm debris from their property are encouraged to contact their municipality for more information on how to dispose of any material.
Residents are still encouraged to call (262) 294-3170 and report storm damage or lingering issues from the storm.
City of Lake Geneva staff will direct the message to the proper department, which will ensure the matter is addressed as soon as possible. Walworth County’s 211 line is being used to document damage throughout the county. If you are dealing with storm damage, please call and report the extent of your issues. The 211 line can also help connect you to services like temporary shelter, food, and cleanup assistance.
Documenting damage through 211 will help the city get reimbursed by the state for expenses due to the storm.
