Surprising Stuff

Maxwell Street Days is this weekend, August 23rd-25th, in Lake Geneva.
The annual sidewalk sales will be back with the best sales of the year! It’s a fun way to browse the shops of downtown Lake Geneva, while retailers sell a variety of items ranging from art, crafts, clothes, jewelry, to furniture and much more. Bargains will line the streets of Lake Geneva, so get them while they last. Opening times vary by store but sales will go on all day. Also, there will be a shuttle running from Petco to the Mill Creek Hotel on Center Street, behind the Post Office. Save yourself the hassle of driving through traffic and fighting for a parking spot and let the shuttle make your shopping trip a more enjoyable experience.

The Holy Communion Episcopal Church on Broad Street will be hosting its fourth annual rummage sale on Saturday, August 24th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Members are accepting donations of small furniture, games, toys, tools, household items, jewelry, accessories, books, pet items, holiday decorations, bedding, and any other small items you’d like to donate. They can’t accept large furniture, large appliances, VCRs, VCR tapes, older TVs, clothing or shoes. Fifty percent of the proceeds will benefit Side by Side.

Winterfest 2020 will be shorter than in previous years.
It will run Friday, January 29th, through Monday, February 3rd. In the past, there was some confusion with visitors that came earlier in the week expecting to see the ice sculptors at work, even though it was clearly stated that the events earlier in the week were in anticipation of the ice sculpting competition. Hopefully by making it run at the same time as the sculpting and judging there will be more cohesion with other activities and create less confusion.

Person of the Week

Chief of Police, Lake Geneva, Michael Rasmussen

Lake Geneva’s wonderful Chief of Police Michael Rasmussen is all business when he has to be, but really enjoys being a part of and having fun in the community. This past weekend he happily worked the American Legion food stand at Venetian Fest!
