SURPRISING STUFF

With Wisconsin weather being a bit unpredictable the Ice Castle at Geneva National has struggled to have a full season.
Last winter the event was only open for two days so this year something new will be taking its place. Winter Realms is just another version of the Ice Castle with many different winter activities incorporated into the ice, with some being less dependent on the winter freeze.

The Ice Castle company has several different locations across the country and all but two of them, Wisconsin being one, are trying something bigger and better than just the Ice Castle structure itself. With more to do and see this year’s ice castle is hoping to offer a fun-filled full season to its patrons. The Winter Realms, the creators of the ice castle, present the land of Arctic magic and wonder.

The Lake Geneva experience is a winter experience that claims to be unlike anything people have seen before. A frozen fantasyland is an open-air experience. Explore the winter attractions which include, horse-drawn rides, an ice volcano, igloos, tubing, ice slides, sculptures, thrones, caverns, and tunnels. Tickets are available for Winter Realms: https://bit.ly/WinterRealms.

“In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost, and the YMCA…”
is a homogenized misquote of the lead into a very spiritual prayer.  The application written here is all about how the YMCA is being treated as almost a religious entity and being given special treatment when it comes to the board of that organization’s attempt to purchase a good portion of the Hillmoor property.

Two ad hoc committee members, Fred Gahl, and Judge Hank Sibbing, read the two representatives attending the last ad hoc committee meeting that they were disrespectful to the committee because the “Y” was taking its case to purchase Hillmoor property directly to the city council in the form of a letter of intent to purchase the property.  The “Y” had the legal capability to go direct like that, but it was a marginal insult, and there’s no doubt about that. The real disrespect was in the lie the board members told, and nearly got away with.

The members present said that the “Y” would settle for fifteen or ten acres instead of the monumental 38 acres written into the letter of intent, the same letter that was modified after the meeting and then resubmitted to the city, but still including the original request for 38 acres (over one-third of the entire buildable plot).  The “Y” wisely chose to withdraw its letter just before the city council meeting on Monday night.  The fact is that the Hillmoor property purchase deal was partially made based upon a promise by the leadership of the time (making the deal) that Hillmoor would remain city property into the future and not be sold.

Only a year later that same leadership is considering selling more than a third of it to an entity that resells it or does anything it wants to it (the ‘holy’ YMCA, as portrayed here) wants, you see, redevelopment zoning on top of being able to buy the property fee simple without restrictions.

Why the City of Lake Geneva seems to have lost its trash cans, where such papers as this letter of intent should be immediately tossed escapes this publisher’s understanding.
