SURPRISING STUFF
The spring election is coming up fast.
Tuesday April 2, 2024, is election day and Lake Geneva has a lot on the ballot. Not only is the Mayoral seat being voted on along with alderman seats there are very important referendum questions to be answered. Before you go to the polls make sure you have done your diligence and look at what the school is asking for.
The Lake Geneva Schools Operational Referendums regarding Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District and Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union (Badger) High School district will ask the citizens of the city for approval. Lake Geneva Schools are not alone in its need for help with ongoing operational costs, maintenance expenses, infrastructure, technology and safety upgrades, and educational programming. Schools all over the State of Wisconsin are facing financial challenges. A large percentage of districts statewide have been forced to seek operational referendum support. All of these challenges are due to an outdated funding system, inadequate state funding, growing student needs, and increasing operational costs. Voters are urged to review the facts, ask questions, and make an informed decision.
There will be several opportunities to get informed on the upcoming referendums. Thursday, February 29th at Inspired Coffee from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. is Coffee with the Superintendent. This will give the community a chance to ask questions, have conversations about the schools, and meet the Lake Geneva School Superintendent, as well as other members of the community. Tuesday, March 5th there will be an evening Referendum Presentation with another opportunity for questions and answers at Centeral-Denision from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6th there will be a presentation followed by questions and answers at the Badger High School Recital Hall from 4:30 p.m. through 5:30 p.m. Star Center Elementary will have another referendum presentation on Thursday, March 7th from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Another Coffee with the Superintendent will happen at the Lake Geneva Library on Friday, March 15th from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Monday, March 18th from 5 p.m. through 6 p.m. at the Lake Geneva Schools District Office there will be another presentation with question-and-answer opportunities.
