Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and some may be celebrating in a grand way.
If you’re looking to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous, then Grand Geneva Resort & Spa has just what you need this Valentine’s Day. After a low-key 2021 due to the pandemic, Grand Geneva feels that this year couples will want to celebrate holidays in a grander way and the resort is ready to impress. For those looking for an experience and a way to escape then the ‘Love is in the Air’ package is perfect for just that.
At the tune of five thousand dollars, the package includes two nights in their biggest room, the grand suite, a special brunch in your own private igloo, with your own private chef, all you can drink Bloody Marys and Mimosas, money to spend at the resort, and a private helicopter ride high above Lake Geneva. This gesture is sure to ‘wow’ just like the views from the helicopter overlooking the ice castles, mansions, and a heart-shaped pond.
This ‘Love is in the Air’ package runs through the entire month of February. Valentine’s Day is one day of the year that everyone is encouraged to tell and show loved ones how much they are loved and appreciated. The day is full of love, praise, candy, flowers, and romance. Valentine’s Day is largely a western tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages and is celebrated by many all over the world. However not every country agrees with the holiday. With differing religious beliefs, seven different countries have banned Valentine’s Day, some even going as far as to arrest couples and close businesses that openly participate in this nearly universal day of love.
This is America so everyone here is allowed to show love and appreciation this special day.
The forensic audit for the BID and the city’s position on it was discussed at last week’s Business Improvement District meeting.
The BID President Spyro Condos recapped what was decided at the last city council meeting regarding this issue. The forensic audit was first requested by the BID due to some discrepancies in previous years’ numbers and that subject was discussed at many city meetings. The city felt it was up to the BID to select which forensic audit proposal to award, as the BID would be paying the bill. The BID felt it was up to the city since it controls the purse strings for the BID funding.
After a lot of back and forth, this hot potato issue landed back at the BID. The city council ordered the audit to be paid by the BID if there was to be an audit. Condos was not happy that the BID was ordered to pay the bill. However, Condos was pleased the council decided to send the information to the authorities. The city turned over all the information including three audits, bank statements, and invoices. The police investigation has ample information to do its duty and if further information is needed then the investigators will gather it themselves.
Condos’ final comment at the meeting was about why should the BID pay anything because, if its warranted, it will be done by the authorities. The BID committee voted to table the issue and any wrongdoing should come out during the investigation if there was any.
