SURPRISING STUFF
The election for alderpersons and the mayor is coming soon.
Todd Krause is running again, and as you will read here, as the election approaches, he has done a fine job of bringing peace to this wonderful city. Yes, Hillmoor is still a problem, and yes, the highway project is coming. The adult toy boat for the police and fire departments is funded, and those individuals can patrol the Lake Geneva Harbor that does not exist. There’s no recordable crime out on this part of the lake, so maybe the new boat can find some. Doubtful, but what the hell, it’s only a few hundred thousand and then tens of thousands to keep going every year.
Todd has been doing a fine job of managing all of the city’s budgets and problems. Hoyland, a city council member, is running against Todd for his seat again. If he wins both, he must resign from one. Peg Esposito is running in district two. What a wonder she is, and it’s hoped she will win. The last seat in contention is that of Sheri Ames. An outspoken wonder of a woman. She’s being run against by the guy who owns Magpie’s restaurant. He’s on the BID as a board member. Not the nicest guy in the world, but next to Hoyland, what the hell.
Lake Geneva Library has some great new things in the works for 2026.
The library meeting room will be renovated. While the project is going on, the library will remain open, but it may affect some of the programming already scheduled. The library staff needs to stay flexible during the remodel, as construction always comes with some challenges. They will do their best to reschedule or relocate any programs affected.
Also, the library will continue with the pop-up library at Steinbrink’s Piggly Wiggly regularly. Starting January 15th, there will be an expanded selection of books on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. through noon, and Friday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Pig. Be sure to stay updated on the day-to-day happenings and or changes to scheduling at lglibrary.org. Lake Geneva has one of the nicest libraries around. The view is stunning, and the staff is top-notch so take advantage of all its opportunities.
