SURPRISING STUFF
Changes are coming to the Business Improvement District (BID) and it will have a positive impact on businesses, locals, and visitors.
New committees, five in total, are being formed to help bring downtown Lake Geneva to its full potential.
- The Parking/Construction Committee will focus on investigating the possibility of a parking structure downtown. They will also look at the Highway 50/Main Street construction project to find ways to have as little impact on the downtown businesses as possible
- The Beautification Committee will take care of the flowers, plants, and other decorative displays throughout downtown. We could see a refresh of decor in the coming future.
- The Promotions Committee will look at ways to promote downtown Lake Geneva and the local businesses.
- The Economic and Vitality Committee will focus on the BID expansion and help support the Main Street construction committee. The BID is looking to expand the number of businesses in its footprint, which is a large project and undertaking. This committee will communicate with the businesses they are looking to recruit, explain the benefits, and follow the process of expanding the boundaries, which includes a public hearing.
- The Organization and Volunteer Committee will work on networking, applying for grants and scholarships, along with public relations. There are many opportunities for the BID to receive money from grants and scholarships which would save their budgeted money for other important needs. All meetings will be open to locals and business owners also. The public will also be invited to come to the meetings.
The Business Improvement District (BID) has become a huge asset to the city, and we look forward to the great changes coming their way.
So, you bought the campaign promises?
How about delivery on those? The cost on the day before the national election for Essential Grade A extra-large eggs was $4.03 for a dozen at Daniel’s Foods. On Sunday, the 26th of January, the price was $8.49 a dozen. Fresh chicken wings were $3.79 but on Sunday they were $4.99. How are we doing on this promise? Walmart rib roast was $13,99 and now it’s 15.99 And so on.
