Tractors in Flat Iron Park?
McHenry County Farm Bureau & MCFB Foundation applied for an event permit to use Flat Iron Park, City of Lake Geneva. The event organizer, Tractor Trek, and the production organization are out of Woodstock, Illinois. Tractor Trek is scheduled to go down on Saturday, July 16th, from 10:30 am through 1:30 pm. A hundred, or so, tractors and drivers are expected and many spectators.
The event’s purpose is to raise money for ‘AG in the Classroom,’ and to create agricultural awareness. Tractor Trek’s first appearance in Lake Geneva was in 2010, then again ten years later in 2020. Each visit was received extremely well. Of course, with this many tractors in the city traffic concerns arise. The traffic issue is always a problem and adding a convoy of tractors could make things more chaotic.
Instead of closing streets and interrupting the flow, however, a police escort is planned for the event. Another concern city official’s voiced is the effect the tractors will have on the grounds of Flat Iron Park but were reassured by the organizers that the property will be treated with care and respect. The tourism commission, city hall, police, and local businesses all worked together in the past to accommodate this event and the Tractor Trek people were very pleased and felt welcomed by the city.
Niche is back! Bigtime!
The new Niche is now open, the former wine bar and coffee shop, located near the entrance to the Geneva National Resort (the north end of the Mia Faccia salon), is now a full-blown bar and coffee shop. The automated wine and whiskey operation are still there and functional but now you can order and consume regular mixed drinks and beer at the bar and consume the beverages in the most comfortable chairs and tables around, inside, and out. The Niche experience is now owned and operated by Kayla Littrell and Stephan Wieder, a team that makes the place bounce with fun and great expressive appeal.
