SURPRISING STUFF
This Fourth of July is going to be a little extra.
The United States of America will be celebrating big all over the nation this July Fourth its 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. There are many families locally that are putting a little more red, white, and blue into their celebrations, and one way families in Lake Geneva celebrate is with the Fourth of July Children’s Parade. This very fun parade is all about the red, white, and blue. The kids, along with their parents, will be dressed in their patriotic colors. There is no registration needed, just show up and get ready to march or ride in this patriotic fun parade. Many will decorate wagons, bikes, scooters, and other modes of transportation; of course, they will all be decorated and themed for the Fourth of July.
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sage Street at Eastview School and travel west on Dodge Street, north on Center Street, and west on Henry Street. The parade ends at the American Legion Hall. The event concludes with its traditional July Fourth ceremony. This is a great way to participate in the holiday and encourage kids to be a part of it. This day is all about the red, white, and blue, and love for the great USA.
If you are a veteran, calling the Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee, get ready for a real lousy experience.
It’s not you. The system will no longer accept calls to the operator, so you can be transferred to the person you need, and the directory system has been changed to centralize everything. No more calling individuals, as you can only call a department and get the scheduling person there…who, for the most part, can only help you with scheduling, not advice or any of that.
The system will keep kicking you back to repeat your Social Security number, date of birth, and address, time after time. You have to hang up and start over. Sometimes you can get through, but not always. This is what DOGE has done to all vets and services. It was all going so well until the current administration took over. Hope you do not need the VA right now. The number to call is 414 384 2000. Get ready to really go to work at making contact, and make sure to reserve plenty of time and patience.
