The Bottle Shop.
Beth Tomas went before the Planning Commission on Monday, June 17, 2019, to propose bringing live entertainment to the patio of The Bottle Shop. She made a meaningful speech, and with her supporters speaking on her behalf, her proposal passed unanimously, after she expressed her gratitude, of course. She also has a further request for the City Council. She would like an extension on her alcohol license to include Tristan’s original theatre next door. Beth has acquired the former theatre and will be expanding The Bottle Shop into it. She will be keeping the theatre seating and stage as is, but she plans to update the space with fresh paint and new decor. The front part of the building will be used for events hosted by The Bottle Shop since they can’t always fit everyone into their current location because her classes are so popular. The theatre and event space will also be available to be rented out for events, conferences, parties, and meetings, as well as for the catering of events. It’s great seeing local business owners expanding and putting money back into the community. Good things are definitely happening for Beth and The Bottle Shop, and it’s encouraging to see the support of the community behind her.
The Gravity of Youth.
Spencer Spiewak had one dream for his 21st birthday and that was to perform one song at Mars Resort for the diners, something his father was afraid might be impossible. His father (Brant Spiewak), however, decided to call Mars and try to make his son’s dream come true. As luck would have it the entertainment for that night had canceled so Spencer was in! Spencer, his family, and friends went to Mars that night for dinner as planned and to their surprise, they had reserved seats around the piano. Spencer’s dream came true when he performed not just one song on the piano, but a true set at the request of the diners, whom also joined in his performance and made it a night to remember.
That memorable moment in Spencer’s life inspired him to form a band by the name Gravity of Youth, which consists of Spencer on the keyboard and vocals, his brother Connor on drums and vocals, Sarah Teale lead vocalist, and Emily Wendlandt, backup vocalist. They perform all over southern Wisconsin at restaurants, fairs, and outdoor venues performing songs that will remind you of your youth and hopefully bring back some magical memories. Their popularity is growing fast and they have developed a strong following who eagerly await each performance. They are currently working on their first album, which will include classics as well as original material. Gravity of Youth seems to be well on their way, with only more good things coming in the future.
