Just who is this ‘Masked Man,’ anyway?
He is a candidate for 3rd district elective office in the coming election. He’s running against Pam Wilkinson for the seat being vacated by Tim Dunn who was a pretty great alderperson. The Geneva Shore Report didn’t formally interview the candidate, as when approached by a reporter he stated, words to the effect: “You people don’t have a positive reputation in this town, so I decline to be interviewed.”
Later, the candidate was spotted at a local coffee shop and informally interviewed about the fact that there’d been a campaign sign violation concerning where he was putting up his signs. It turned out that the candidate had put his signs up in the front yard of the building his opponent was living in, and in fact, right outside her front window. When asked about the fact that it might be a bit ‘in your face’ aggressive to do such a thing when there are tons of places in the district to put signs in much more visible spots, he responded that the owner of the triplex where his opposition is quartered approved of the sign placement. He called the police when his opponent took the signs down and had them supervise the return of the signs outside her window.
The candidate, known quietly here as the ‘Masked Man,’ got one thing absolutely correct. As far as he is specifically concerned the GSR is truly a negative force in the community. The Masked Man is deeply entwined, allegedly, into the very fabric of the Mayor Mayor/Joanie the Diner weaving layered over the top of current city operations.
