SURPRISING STUFF

A Delavan police officer was arrested in Illinois on Thursday, March 19. According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office online inmate locator, Officer Joshua Bittner was booked into the Winnebago County Jail on charges of aggravated stalking and violating a protection order. According to the Delavan Police Department, Officer Joshua Bittner was arrested, and he has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and any court proceedings. He faces one charge of aggravated stalking and two charges of violating an order of protection.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office said Bittner’s arrest came after a thorough investigation from its detectives. Both sets of charges stem from Bittner contacting a woman against the orders of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. The woman detailed a long pattern of harassment in court documents.

A Winnebago County judge ordered Bittner to not contact the woman and to stay away from guns and weapons until his trial begins. Bittner has been employed by the Delavan Police Department since February 2023. He was previously an officer in Beloit, where he resigned while the police department investigated his behavior.
