SURPRISING STUFF

Annie’s Burgertown in Elkhorn is temporarily closed.
Annie’s has been a staple and community favorite since it opened over thirty years ago. They are usually the first stop after sports games for dinner and dessert. They even offer car hops during the summer season. Last Thursday evening around 9 p.m. the Elkhorn Area Fire Department responded to a call for reports of flames coming from Annie’s Burgertown. Upon arrival there were large flames coming from the kitchen area, the road was closed, and back-up was requested. The City of Lake Geneva, City of Delavan and Town of Delavan assisted with engines and personnel. The damage was too extensive to reopen and will need to be gutted and remodeled.

In the coming days Jeff and Maria, the owners, will navigate through what needs to be done in order to reopen as soon as possible. Jeff and Maria received so much love and support from the community which is what brought them to Elkhorn originally. They have given so much back and now the community is coming together to show their support for the Annie’s Burgertown family. We all look forward to seeing the new Annie’s Burgertown coming back better than ever. Annie’s will be missed, and the public, as well as the staff of the Geneva Shore Report, who have patronized the place will wait with bated breath for its hoped return late in the summer or autumn.

Annie’s  Closed

Last week a sixteen-year-old riding his bike, at high noon of all times, tried to cross in front of an approaching train and didn’t make it in downtown Burlington.
Trains don’t care and so the racing child didn’t make it right in front of his brother who had warned him not to try to beat the train.  What a tragedy and loss.  Don’t race trains, ever, no matter what the circumstance.
