SURPRISING STUFF

Anthony’s Steakhouse officially sold in August of 2023.
The owner, Greg Condos, quietly and very surprisingly closed the family restaurant after almost a handful of decades. The dining establishment was the last of the ‘supper club’ kind of place that used to dot the land all across the state. Anthony’s was a local favorite and many enjoyed the atmosphere and food regularly. The building has sat empty as many waited expecting something new to take its place. After a year of vacancy, the building started showing signs of activity. The new owners graciously offered the building to the police and fire departments in the area for training. Of course, the departments took advantage of the opportunity and got busy polishing up skills and learning new techniques.

Allegedly Anthony’s sold for three million dollars allowing Greg to retire in style. Condos enjoyed his time at the restaurant with his family and friends and is humbly appreciative of all who loved the place (in his own words, no less). Anthony’s won’t sit vacant for long. Rumor has it the new owner,  Salotto Del Lago LLC. out of Elmhurst Illinois, is planning to turn the five-acre plot of land into an Italian wood fire pizza establishment.  Incidentally, Anthony, the manager of Magpies, Fat Cats and member of the Business Improvement District Board is not in any way connected to Anthony’s Steakhouse (or Lake Geneva would be a lot louder).

If you have Fall Fever, you are not alone.
Fall is almost here which means fall colors are the highlight of most weekend getaways. Travel Wisconsin and its Fall Color Report is a great tool for scheduling outings around the colors of fall and getting the best views available. With Fall just getting started in Wisconsin the colors have not shown up quite yet, however, there are a few trees that change early in the season and if you pay attention, you can see the transition has started. The further north you go the colors are just getting started. Of course, the full colors peak at different times depending on how far north or south you go during the fall season. Lake Geneva and all of Walworth County typically peak in the third week of October. With the fall season here and cooler temperatures present many are excited for the beauty of fall to show its true colors.
