Geneva Lake Dam is scheduled for repairs.
The dam has needed repairs for quite some time and the repairs kept getting pushed back. The issues of the dam became controversial as to who is responsible for the repairs and who is accountable to share in the cost. The dam is a necessary implement for the entirety of Geneva Lake, and some believe that that would make all lake municipalities responsible for the maintenance of the dam. A pre-construction meeting was held with the GLLC and the contractor. This is not a city project, but it most definitely impacts the city. For the work to be done the dam needed to be regulated to draw down the lake just below the spillway.

This process is not quick, and the weather has to cooperate, meaning no rain. The forecast looks accommodating at this time and the dam work is set to begin once the lake is drawn down enough. Once the dam work starts the parking lot adjacent to the dam will be closed and the parking department is aware of this and is working with the contractor. The work is expected to begin right after Labor Day.
