Many people today, voting citizens even, state that they do not follow nor are they the least bit interested in politics. How the word politics came to be from Greece, from the word politics, meaning roughly ‘of the people.’  Somehow, this word has come to mean something negative in most people’s minds.

The new ‘captain’ at the titular helm of Lake Geneva’s ‘ship of state is Todd Krause.  He cannot, however, be in every place at once, nor does he have the power of a true ship’s captain.  He must respect and be well aware of the city alderpersons and even some of the more powerful appointed members of the city government.

The first meeting of the ‘new’ city council in the City of Lake Geneva went down on Monday night.  It was a raucous, although fairly quiet, get together, wherein the newly sworn in alderpersons tried to figure out where they fit into the operations of a city council they’d never sat on or considered sitting on before.

Lake Geneva Public Library wants a parking lot. The Library Board unanimously approved proceeding with a proposal to the city council for a city capital funded parking lot (that is from the seven million dollar formerly secret reserve fund).
