The Lake Geneva City Council held its reorganization meeting last week. Alderpersons were sworn in and voted for the city council president and vice president. Like all city council meetings, it started with the pledge of allegiance and prayer with Pastor Sir Vandenberg from the Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Residents of Symphony Bay are all talking and concerned about the annexation and proposed phase 8. The city council chambers were full last Monday night with residents of the development, and all had a lot to say. The development started on a much smaller scale than it is currently, and the original plans never depicted the amount of development that now exists and just seems to keep coming.

In the United States Marine Corps there exists one of those timeless expressions that only celebrating Marines, or those deep in a difficult situation, can come up with that applies to the current city financial management structure: “If you can’t baffle them with your bullshit then dazzle them with your footwork.” That expression, when taken to presentation and action, was on full display at the common council’s meeting held Monday night.

Small town favoritism at its very best. Mayor Mayor of the City of Lake Geneva is at it again.
Last week Mayor Mayor threatened an employee of the Geneva Shore Report, along with other staff and the paper itself. Why? All because the goats eating their way through the Hillmoor property were mentioned in the daily news reports the GSR puts out.

The current Lake Geneva City Council has gone from being one of the best ever elected to a group of people who seem to have lost the capability to know where they’re going, or, at the very least, going in a direction that’s opposed to what the people who elected them might want.
