THE BRIGHT SIDE
Never Say Never
Mark all calendars because the Never Say Never Playland build week is June 2nd to 8th 2025. The playland is being built in Gordon Yadon Park in Delavan. The 13,000 square foot playland will require over 2000 volunteers to help with everything from building the playset, serving food and entertaining in the childcare area. This will be Walworth County’s first all-inclusive playland and will be completely fenced in. The playground will feature components designed for children of varying abilities to play together, including a wheelchair swing and an accessible merry-go-round. Delavan has been very welcoming in making this dream come true.
The Delavan City Administrator, Brian Wilson, is assisting Never Say Never Playland in identifying and applying for various grants to help fund the project. Lake Geneva really dropped the ball on this wonderful organization. We’re happy to see the playland get its happy ending after all.
Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum.
They had a great run and will be missed by the community and visitors alike. The Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum is permanently closed. Located on Williams Street in the original TSR headquarters where TSR was born. It was the first office Gygax and the company’s vice president bought after creating Dungeons & Dragons and establishing the company. It’s also the location of the former Dungeon Hobby Shop, which sold TSR products, polyhedral dice, some historic games, paints and metal figures. The museum featured items from TSR’s early days.
It’s unfortunate to see such a big piece of Lake Geneva history close. The museum drew people in from all around the world with many planning their trip around the museum. The Gary Con and Dragon Days events were also well supported by the museum. We’re sad to see them go.
