THE BRIGHT SIDE
Wrigley Drive construction update.
One week into construction on Wrigley Drive and a whole lot is getting done. The management and crew of All Ways Construction are doing a great job staying on task and working with the time constraints it’s been given. Wrigley Drive is consistently driven by locals and visitors and is rarely free of traffic or available parking. The work is expected to be done just in time for the official busy season that starts on Memorial Day weekend. The local businesses located on Wrigley are doing their best to get through the project and remain open as it gets done. Popeye’s is one of the restaurants that resides on Wrigley Drive and is feeling the lack of patrons and revenue deeply. Road Construction Specials are being offered by Popeyes during the week.
Popeye’s is also serving half-off burgers on Monday, Tuesdays it has half-off flatbreads, Wednesday is half-off its delicious rotisserie entrees, heading into the weekend on Thursday where everyone can enjoy half-off cocktails and appetizers, and finally, Fridays are all-you-can-eat chicken tenders for $14.99. There is no coupon required for any of this. Popeyes is simply giving great deals, and, is using the construction as a way to say thanks to its many patrons. Speedo’s Harborside Grill is also on the corner of Wrigley, and is welcoming its patrons in.
It’s a great spot to view the construction work and then its great view of the Riviera. Barrique Bistro and Wine Bar and Oak Fire are located in the center of it all and are encouraging people to come on in. Parking is available on Main Street and Broad Street and all sidewalk access is open.
This fall murals are coming to downtown Lake Geneva.
During the last weekend in the month of September the Business Improvement District (BID) will be hosting four artists who will be bringing some sort of artistic life to downtown Lake Geneva. One of the murals will be painted on one wall of the Melges Real Estate building, located on Center Street, just next to Starbucks. The name of that mural will be ‘Greetings from Lake Geneva,’ and the art, not described or examples shown yet, welcomes all those who walk, bike, drive or shop in the downtown area. Contracts are still being issued and sponsorships are still available for those interested in bringing murals to town or helping in the financing of the project.
The BID is planning an entire event around watching the artists while they work away painting the scenes. This event, and others that will follow, could be a huge draw for Lake Geneva and help change the city from one attracting those who only want to use the lake or shop to one that also becomes a center for the appreciation of the arts.
