THE BRIGHT SIDE
Earth Day is this Saturday, April 22, 2023.
This day has been celebrated for fifty years and is a great day to get out and do something positive for the environment. The idea is to get out and plant something; a tree, flowers, or get that garden ready to be planted. Not only is it a day to add some foliage to the earth, it’s also about cleaning it up. Pick up some garbage as a family, as it’s a great way to spend quality time together and get some spring cleaning done. Recycling is another great way to help the environment. Encourage others to do the same. With winter over and spring here people are spending more time outdoors and when the outdoors is taken care of it is more pleasing for everyone. There are a few events in the area that are celebrating Earth Day.
Spring Spruce Up Earth Day Clean Up is happening at the White River. Everyone who wants to help will meet at the White River Trail on Mills Street in Lyons. The goal is to clean up trash along the bike and walking path. Boots and gloves are encouraged, especially if it’s muddy. Any and all parks are a benefit to every community and if you see trash pick it up. This is always appreciated. Even some of the retail stores are having earth day specials. Thrift Stores are another great way to reuse and recycle. Lake Geneva has a new thrift business in a town called Circa. Circa and it’s located at 264 Center Street. Circa offers preowned and new apparel and accessories.
The Thrift-In on Main Street is another fantastic option for preowned household and furniture items. This is a place that once you go to you simply have to go back.
Pesche’s Greenhouse is hosting a kid ‘planting for mom’ event. Kids of all ages are welcome to come out where gardening experts will help them plant annuals. Pesche’s staff will water and care for the plants and will be ready for pick up before Mother’s Day. This is a perfect way to celebrate Earth Day and kids will have a beautiful gift for Mom. The event is on Earth Day, Saturday April 22nd, from 10 a.m. until noon. The cost is $20, and registration can be done by calling 262-245-6125. With all these great options and more there is no reason not to celebrate Earth Day.
