Mental health concerns.
Walworth County is feeling the behavioral effects of the safer at home order and this may be the start. The Wisconsin Department of Health issued an alert over a week ago regarding the recent increased suspected opioid drug overdoses, increased jail bookings for domestic abuse, and the increased calls to the crisis center. The safer at home order was implemented to slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus and seems to be working, however, it is causing complications in other areas. The prolonged isolation, unemployment, and the unknown have created stress, anxiety, and fear for many. Some are experiencing extreme levels of anxiety and are dealing with it for the first time. The Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services is working to increase available emergency mental health services. The County Crisis program is available seven days a week twenty-four hours a day at 262-741-3200 and domestic abuse help is also available at 262-723-4653.
