THE BRIGHT SIDE – Lisa Otto

Mary Jo Fesenmaier, exquisite alderperson in Lake Geneva.
How exquisite is she, compared to alderperson ‘Joanie the Diner’ or even Mayor Mayor supposedly running the town?  Like over the moon exquisite.  As an example, and most allegedly (prints are not back yet) J the D sent out postcards to all of Lake Geneva’s voters.  One of the photos on the postcard was of alderperson Fesenmaier.  The postcard stated that Mary Jo Fesenmaier had been “fined” twenty-five thousand dollars when she formerly sat on the city council in Lake Geneva.  That was not only a grand lie, it was also extremely hurtful to this wonderful hard-working woman.

Mary Jo lost her son this year, and then her daughter a few months later.  Even her father’s dog died during that horrid period she thought was over.  But no, along comes, most allegedly still, J the D to hurt her some more.  J the D and Mary Jo don’t agree on much as they serve in their alderperson’s positions, mostly because J the D has a brain-housing-group that gives every appearance of being filled with solid concrete.  That she’s disabled that way (which is not alleged since it’s the opinion of the entire Geneva Shore Report staff) is a shame but what’s not a shame, instead is blatantly apparent is the fact that she’s evidently deeply mean-spirited and downright cruel.

The GSR staff have not always agreed with Mary Jo Fesenmaier, but the entire staff certainly formed together as a group to help support her during her time of great trouble, not because of her service to the city as an alderperson or for the years she was a great librarian but because she’s a really nice woman who means well for everyone around her.  This woman may be too nice to file suit against the person or persons who sent the postcard through the regular mail.  Here is the criminal statute that Mary Jo might initiate a police investigation over about what was done to her:

“Wisconsin State statutes: slander (spoken defamation), and libel (written defamation) can rise to a criminal offense — a Class A Misdemeanor – punishable by a fine of no more than $10,000 and/or 9 months in prison.”  There will likely be a great number of fingerprints that can be traced by the police to secure the co-operation of in order to go after whomever is behind this awful pursuit.

Riviera Beach in Lake Geneva had to partially close due to high E. coli levels.
The cause of E. coli contamination in lakes can be a combination of many things, but typically it is from animal feces making its way into the lakes. This means that any lake that has a significant amount of warm-blooded animal life (waterfowl, pets) living around the lake has the potential to become a breeding ground for E. coli bacteria.

On August 14th the Geneva Lake Environmental Agency (GLEA) performed their regular E. coli testing along the shores of Geneva Lake and the next day test results showed a high level of the bacteria in multiple locations. The east end of Lake Geneva Beach adjacent to The Riviera was under closure and roped off to beachgoers on Tuesday, Aug. 15 after testing results showed E. coli levels of 2,420 per 100 milliliters, well in excess of the closure threshold of 999 per 100mL. Additionally, there was a cautionary advisory placed at Country Club Estates Beach in Fontana who had E. coli levels of 299 per 100mL. The advisory threshold is 235 per 100mL.

An advisory occurs at a count exceeding 235 colonies per 100mL, with a closure occurring at a count exceeding 999. GLEA has a mission to keep the lake safe by protecting and preserving the water, land and animals that surround it. The GLEA will be retesting to make sure the beaches and water are safe for all. Some people may be more sensitive to E. coli bacteria and may experience health problems more easily than others. Whether or not immediately affected, it is always important to check for any E. coli warning signs. If there are any, it’s best not to swim in the lake.
