Structure fire on the 1000 block of George Street.
The Lake Geneva Fire Department and Police Department once again displayed great teamwork and impressive skills. Late Friday morning around 10:30 a.m., the fire department received a call for a structure fire and a person trapped in the building. The fire department arrived at the scene within two minutes. The scene was immediately accessed as a two-unit building with the staircase fully engulfed in flames. The police department was already on scene and at the back of the building.

Detective Sgt. Nettesheim along with Officers Nelson, Walser, and Bouland located a nearby ladder and went into action assisting the trapped victim out of the second-story window. Two other residents were able to exit the home safely. There were no significant injuries and thankfully only one person was treated for minor injuries on the scene. The fire was quickly extinguished however there is extensive damage. The Lake Geneva Fire Chief Peters wants to remind residents of the importance of working smoke detectors and the importance of having two ways to exit your home, and practice escape plans. Lake Geneva residents are lucky to have two departments that work so well together.
