THE BRIGHT SIDE

Vote “yes” for the coming school referendum.
Lake Geneva Schools take great pride in being an active member of the community. The mission is to engage, educate, and empower the students, staff, and community of Lake Geneva Schools. Lake Geneva Schools are facing financial challenges. Lake Geneva Schools are not alone as schools across the nation are dealing with the same. On election day, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, residents will vote on an operational referendum question. This question will address both the district’s financial challenges and ensure the educational system is appropriately funded, supporting the opportunities offered to the students and the educators who provide them. The referendum is needed due to an outdated funding system, inadequate state funding, growing student needs, and rising operational costs.

If the referendums are passed the schools will be able to address the ongoing operational costs including support for teaching and learning, retaining the best educators, maintenance, and covering rising inflationary costs. What does this mean for taxpayers? If a Badger High School District and Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District referendum is approved in April, it would have an estimated tax impact of $.18 – $.56 per $1,000 of assessed property value. When heading to the ballots on election day all are encouraged to vote yes for the schools, the teachers, and most.
