The Bright Side

There was a mid-winter presentation regarding CD3 Boat Cleaning Kiosks (CD standing for the words Clean and Drain in the company’s name title).
The Starry Stonewart infestation hasn’t left Geneva lake, it only lays dormant at the bottom for the winter.  It will ‘wake up’ and begin to spread once again in Geneva Lake when the weather turns. Just like other lakes invaded by this lake killer the fight to save Geneva Lake is real. One of the best ways to prevent other foreign plant species from entering the lake and spreading to other lakes the clean boat/ clean lake plan is a simple very effective strategy.

Geneva Lake has boat launches in Lake Geneva, Williams Bay, Fontana, and Linn that all need to be on board for this method to be effective. All boat launch and public access areas need to include signage, pavement markers, and cleanout zones. The CD3 Boat Cleaning Kiosk could be a great way to help spread awareness and ensure that boats are getting cleaned before entering and after exiting the lake. Who doesn’t love a clean boat and a clean lake? CD3 Systems are a waterless, free, user-operated cleaning equipment that includes wet and dry vacuum, blower system, with hand tools and lights. The system also includes software that reports on the frequency and timing of equipment use and automated maintenance alerts. CD3 Systems Educational Kiosks come with custom wraps that provide an overview of the importance of cleaning any boat to help stop the spread of invasive species, as well as other great tips for cleaning a boat. All systems come with operational instructions, legal disclaimers, and button function instructions.

The meeting concluded with a request being made to CD3 to provide cost analysis and payment options. Nobody talked at all about the fact that the Starry would be multiplying again soon and that the CD3 plan was a lot like slamming the bard door after the horse is already gone.
