THE BRIGHT SIDE

The “Fountain of Youth” right here in Wisconsin? The Whitewater Park is about a twenty-minute drive from Lake Geneva and is located alongside Clover Valley Road in Whitewater.  It’s well worth the drive (if you believe the magical powers people are saying the waters possess). The Clover Valley Artesian Well, along with a picnic area, is one of the smaller rest stops, but among the most popular in all of Wisconsin. Locals have been coming to the well for years, filling jug after jug the pure and supposedly magical water.

The water has been bubbling for 125 years.  It’s fresh, clean, and unprocessed. The 55-foot-deep well was hand-dug back in 1895 by a man named Adam Channing and is still flowing steadily today. Pure uncontaminated water is believed to have great health benefits, and possibly (mythically) roll back the hand of time. The well is located very near the kettle Moraine State Forest, which is a favorite camping and hiking destination and is beautiful. Whatever you believe, Whitewater is a beautiful area to enjoy the outdoors, and the “Flowing Well” water is crisp, cold, and delicious.

The city council in Lake Geneva votes to allow the Business Improvement District (BID) to choose a forensic accounting firm to audit its books.
Speedo Condos, the chairman of the BID board, has been requesting an audit of former BID board financial transactions ever since he took over leadership of the board in 2021.  Finally, he gets his way.  The BID is way in the black this year and Speedo wants to know why it wasn’t in the past.  Where did all the money go?  The city, the BID board, and the GSR are about to find out.
