THE BRIGHT SIDE

A whole year of partying! The Lake Geneva Public Library is getting ready to celebrate its 130th Anniversary.
January 7, 2025, was the kickoff of the anniversary year. Expect to see something new and different throughout the year celebrating the library. December the library offered some great library gear like sweatshirts, T-shirts, and tumblers for purchase all highlighting the 130 years of service the library is proud to have provided. These wonderful items are limited, and a few items may still be left, check with the librarian if interested. Make sure to stop in and show your enthusiasm and support for our wonderful library. Not only will there be a regular schedule of events this year is going to be extra special. The big 130th Anniversary party will be this August 2025!

The holidays may be over but families struggling to meet their daily needs still exist.
“Pack the Pantry” is a great way to help local families. The Pit Stop 67 will be hosting the event and is looking for help from the community. The Pit Stop is located at N6444 Highway 12 in Elkhorn and the Pack the Pantry Fundraiser is Saturday, February 15th from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. One hundred percent of the money raised at this fundraiser will go towards helping families. If you are interested in donating or sponsoring a basket for the silent auction reach out at 262-458-0322. There will be a silent auction, basket raffles, and a 50/50 raffle to help maintain the contents of area blessing boxes and assist struggling families.

If you are unable to attend this event but want to give back to the community the local food pantries are always looking for help. The Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank on Commerce Court in Elkhorn is one of the bigger pantries in the area and serves around five hundred families monthly. There are also smaller food pantries available for those in need. The Elkhorn Food Pantry at 14 West Geneva Street in Elkhorn and the Lake Geneva Food Pantry at 715 Wisconsin Street in Lake Geneva serve so many families locally who struggle to make ends meet. The pantries are always accepting donations and strive to meet the needs of local families. If you are interested in donating the pantries are easy to reach and very appreciative.

The Walworth County Pantry’s phone number is 262-723-4488, The Elkhorn Pantry’s number is 262-723-6359, and the Lake Geneva Pantry can be reached at 262-248-2337. If you need help don’t hesitate to reach out and make a stop at Pit Stop 67.
