THE BRIGHT SIDE
Elections at the Lake Geneva Business Improvement District were held last week.
The BID consists of eight members with more than fifty percent of them being property owners in the business district and the other managers of businesses within the BID district. The BID was created in 1991, and its purpose is to enhance the appeal of the downtown area and to give people a reason to come into the downtown area. The current BID Board is doing a great job with added events and so much more community interaction than ever. At the January meeting the BID holds its election of officers.
The Business Improvement District president, by unanimous vote, is Janine Osborne and the vice president is the vibrant Beth Tumas. Janine is the manager at the Harbor Shores resort and knows the ins and outs of the BID operations, as she has been a member for some time. She has a grasp on tourism from her work at the resort. Beth Tumas is as inviting and likable as her thriving business on the corner of Mill and Main Street. The Bottle Shop is a very popular business with locals and a favorite for many visitors. Beth and her business continue to grow and are huge participants in the community. The BID is doing so many things right and downtown’s future is exciting. Speedo, incidentally, is now a board member without an additional title. He served extraordinarily well during his three-year run as president.
