THE BRIGHT SIDE
Edwards Boulevard and the sinuous nightmare of the redrawing of traffic lanes on it.
There is talk of doing something with the Hillmoor property but what can be done if the traffic drawn there by anything built on that property is stuck in the mess that has become Highway 50 on all summer weekends and some weekdays too? The way around the traffic was supposed to be provided by the construction of Edwards Boulevard running from Highway 50 up to Sheridan Springs Road. However, the big box stores like Target Home Depot and Walgreens slowly went to work on city leadership and managed to make the Edwards Boulevard one lane, with all other lanes dedicated to getting customers into an out of those big box stores.
The result is a traffic nightmare. Not only are the redrawn lines on Edwards ridiculous to navigate through but they are unsafe at any speed. The city would do well to first redesign Edwards back to what it was intended to be and then expand its width to allow for more traffic. Hillmoor is coming and it has to be planned (the traffic increase) ahead of time, not later on when the problem turns the entire eastern part of Lake Geneva into a tied-up mass of barely moving vehicles.
