THE BRIGHT SIDE
Delavan is soon to be home to Wisconsin’s largest all-inclusive playground.
Founded by local resident Dusti Grenus, inspired by her daughter Kameron’s need for accessible play spaces, the project is a collaboration between the nonprofit Never Say Never Inc., the City of Delavan, and renowned playground designers Leathers & Associates. Nearly 1,000 volunteers helped build the playground, which took a little over a week with a slight delay due to stormy weather. The Never Say Never Playland is a 13,000-square-foot, fully accessible playground designed for children and adults of all abilities. The playground features ADA ADA-compliant design and Construction. Wheelchair-accessible swings and merry-go-rounds. Sensory-friendly zones for children with autism or sensory processing challenges. Static-free slides are safe for cochlear implants. Soft, cushioned surfacing for mobility and safety. Fully fenced perimeter and shaded rest areas. This project has been a long time coming, and we are thrilled to see it come to life. This is a huge asset to the City of Delavan, the county, and the citizens, which will draw people from all over. The City of Delavan has pledged up to $350,000 toward the project, matching the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts. The park is located at Gordon Yadon Park, located at 101 Autumn Drive, Delavan, Wisconsin.
Place of the Week

96.1 the FM local station in Lake Geneva. Sometimes antagonistic and opinionated, but always interesting and qualitative.
