THE BRIGHT SIDE
Good luck with this one!
With school out for the summer, Lake Geneva is ramping up for tourist season, particularly visitors from just over the border in Illinois. With it comes loud summertime music from visitors who hope to get away and have some fun. The City of Lake Geneva Police Department will be increasing its loud noise ordinance enforcement. This warning is for residents and visitors alike. Officers warned that if your music is “shaking windows, scaring squirrels, and setting off car alarms,” then it might be too loud.
Lake Geneva PD says it will be stepping up enforcement of the loud noise ordinance in the downtown area in hopes that residents and visitors will keep the music volume to a ‘respectful’ level. The City of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, has a noise ordinance that prohibits loud and unnecessary noise between 9 PM and 7 AM on weekdays and 9 PM and 8 AM on weekends. This includes construction, maintenance, or repair of buildings, properties, and streets, as well as the use of machines like generators, compressors, and pile drivers. The ordinance also prohibits playing music, radios, or other similar devices within 75 feet of the source if it can be heard outside.
This does not apply to activities that have a permit from the city. Like, the Lake Geneva police department doesn’t have enough to put up with the tourists beginning to flock into town and jam everything up? Do you suppose all LG squad cars have sound meters for measuring violations? Oh please!
