The Bright Side

Last week, the Delavan-Darien School Board voted 6-1 to move forward with winter sports programs.
However, it has been reported the board expressed hesitation, as they voted to move forward with the program.  Jill Sorbie, the District Administrator, has noted that to share the decision was a difficult one for her while the state continues to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.  This could all change if Walworth County mandates that there will be no winter sports. As of this writing, the county has not issued any statements about winter high school sports, but Delavan-Darien athletic director Guy Otte said Burlington had already announced it will shift to virtual school for two-weeks in late November and no participate in athletics during that time. The status of Badger High School remains unknown at this time.  All efforts to reach Badger High School Athletic Director Jack Klug and Lake Geneva-Genoa Union, Badger High School Board President Pat Sherman have gone unanswered.  The Geneva Shore Report will continue to monitor the status of these and all other surrounding area schools in our county as they occur.

Dancing Horses Holiday Show opened on Saturday, November 21st.
The wonderful Christmas show is magnificent, and the skills needed are impressive. The performers and horses practice week upon week prior to opening day; costume selection is an art in itself, and of course, the decorations and music all play a grand role in this celebration of Christmas. If you have not seen any of the Dancing Horses Shows you really must attend. With the pandemic and all the restrictions and shutdowns, the Dancing Horses Theatre and petting zoo is struggling to stay open.

This Christmas Show may be the last, so make sure you have a first before it’s too late. The theatre is located at 5065 State Road 50 in Delavan. For showtimes and prices go to thedancinghorses.com or call 262- 728-8200.
