The Bright Side

The Lake Geneva Window Display Competition.
The big competition. It’s that time of year again and Lake Geneva is having the Holiday Window Display Competition. Shops throughout downtown Lake Geneva have until the end of the day on Friday, November 9th to finish their holiday displays before voting starts. The theme of this year’s holiday season is a “Whoville Christmas, Growing the Hearts of our Communities.” Voting will be from November 10th through December 16th. The holiday windows will be judged using four categories: community choice, social media, best use of merchandise, and best use of the theme. The winners will be announced on December 17th. Let the holiday season begin!

The city is starting its traditional holiday decorating:
The colored lights and snowflakes are up and that’s only the start of what’s to come. Soon the trees that line the downtown streets will be aglow with tiny white lights wrapped around them. The stores are all getting ready as well, many of them have garlands, wreaths and bows already displayed. The BID will do the traditional tree lighting in Flat Iron Park, under the Brunk Pavilion, On Friday, November 30th. On Saturday, December 1st, the 43rd Annual Electric Christmas Parade, themed “A Whoville Christmas—Growing the Hearts of our Communities,” will take place. This year an ice-skating rink will be added in Flat Iron Park, and then there is the grand Ice Castle on the Riviera Beach. This could be a very festive holiday season here in Lake Geneva.
